Knowledge, attitude and practices regarding immunization among parents with children in the age group 12 to 24 months

Background: Immunization is one of the most indispensable community-based health interventions with unquestionable ability to improve a nation’s status. In spite evidences about effectiveness vaccines, millions children around world are lagging behind exposing them and their community risk epidemics. Despite efforts taken vaccination coverage, India has only succeeded in achieving 65% coverage childhood immunization. We aim determine parental knowledge, attitudes practices regarding Methods: It questionnaire-based observational study involving 95 parents aged 12 24 months, conducted tertiary care hospital Tamil Nadu. Results: Ninety have been completely immunized according age. Nearly 60% did not receive vaccinations prescribed schedule. More than half believed that vaccines efficient preventing diseases, which was statistically associated education parents. Although there good immunization our locality, 17.89% still doubt safety one-fifth respondents had misapprehensions may cause long-term consequences children. Conclusions: found multiple factors play role determining status population, including sociodemographic characteristics, level knowledge towards Therefore, improving among key initiatives building disease-free nation.
